Burton Venture Trust TRUSTEES
Trust Director, Michael Scott, is a Director of a Microbiology Diagnostic Company and has been involved with the trust for the past 15 years, initially through the involvement of his daughters Helen and Jenny. Mike brings his business experience to the running of the Trust’s affairs and chairs its meetings. He also receives Parent Visitor Reports.

Legal Advisor, Tony Russell, is a practising solicitor who specialises in Employment Law and advises the Trustees on legal matters. Tony was recommended as a legal advisor by his predecessor, Peter Scragg.

Joint Activity Leader, Graham Marshment, is one of the Joint Activity Leaders. He once worked for two years on BBC Radio Derby and has taught across all the age ranges from 7 to 18, including the Prison service, and was a headmaster for 13 years. Originally a Science and RE teacher, he currently teaches ICT at Twycross House School. Graham has two grown up daughters, Emma and Elizabeth and a 14 year old son, Christopher, all of whom enjoyed activities with the Burton Venture Trust.

Joint Activity Leader, Jerome Emery, is the second Joint Activity Leader. He has been involved with the Trust over the last four decades and was one of the founder members. Jerome is Business/General Practice Manager at St Peter's Surgeryin Walsall. Before that, his background was in industry where, as a chartered engineer, he was Senior Project Manager responsible for managing teams of engineers. Jerome has four grown up children, Louise, Joseph, Ben and Daniel, who all enjoyed Burton Venture Trust activities as youngsters.

Staff/Child Protection Officer, Nigel Fermor, is a retired Police Officer and uses his experience in this field to ensure that the Trust operates an effective staff/child protection policy. He also overlooks the Trust’s minibus to ensure it is kept in pristine condition and operated safely. Nigel has two grown up children, Tom and Leah, both of whom enjoyed Burton Venture Trust activities.

Treasurer, Brian Boyd, is a retired Building Society Manager and has been the Trust’s Treasurer since it began as a Charity in 1979. Brian’s grown up children, Stephen and Erica, were members of the Trust and daughter Erica was in the Folk Group and was involved in the two LP’s which the group made in 1982.

Secretary, Marjorie Jawo, has been a Trustee since the Trust was formed in to a Charity in 1979. Marjorie brought her considerable oganisational skills to the work of the Trustees and made a big contribution to getting its work off the ground. Marjorie is retiring as a Trustee in April 2010. Marjorie had two grown up daughters, Allison and Sarah, both of whom enjoyed their time with the Trust.

Replacement Trustee – Marjorie’s role will be taken over by Jenny Spiers. Jenny has been a member since she was very young and now has two small children, Amilie and Daniel.

About the Trustees
From time to time, the Trustees visit activities as part of their monitoring role and they receive confidential reports from Parent Visitors, as part of the Trust’s Staff/Child Protection Policy. They monitor expenditure and all aspects of the Trust’s work and they receive regular reports from the Joint Activity Leaders.

Graham Marshment* - Graham’s specialist skills are in canoeing, climbing, caving, and target shooting and he is experienced across all the Burton Venture Trust's activities. He has also made 206 skydives and hopes to return to the sport this year.

Jerome Emery* - Jerome has had a similar experience across all the Burton Venture Trust's activities and he is a keen very competent hill walker and has particular skills in archery, caving and climbing.

Deputy Activity Leader
Andrew Fennell* - Andrew is also skilled across most of the Burton Venture Trust activities and has personal skills in climbing, canoeing, and caving.

Instructors (these take first line responsibility on activities)
Iain Johnson* has been with the Trust since he was a youngster and is experienced in a wide range of activities.

Dominic Kerr-Delworth has been with the Trust since he was a youngster and specialises in caving, climbing and canoeing as well as having experience across all the other activities.

Gerri Ellam is our First Aid specialist and has taken part in support of all the various Burton Venture Trust's activities. She shares responsibility for the girls, along with Stacey.

Stacey Wain has been with the Trust since she was a youngster and has a wide personal experience of most of the activities, in particular canoeing, climbing and caving.

John Ridgard* is a skilled canoeist and sailor who has a wide experience in all the Trust activities.

Brendan Geoghegan* has been with the Trust since he was a youngster and has a wide experience across all the activities.

Nicholas Rowles* has also been with the Trust since he was a youngster and has specialist skills in caving and experience across all the other activities.

All instructors and most of the activity staff are First Aid trained and receive regular activity training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. This includes a sound knowledge of the Trust’s Staff/Child Protection Policy.
